MyPal's Approach for Talent Development

MyPal's approach for talent development is a confluence of pedagogy and psychology.

Modern psychological science has established that intelligence is not only in the genes and that abilities are malleable and can be nurtured. Practice, commitment and psychological strengths such as mental skills and persistence play an equally important role in talent development.

Talent development is a two stage process consisting of talent identification and talent development.  Talent development process itself is characterized by several transitions whereby individual talents / abilities are developed into competencies, competencies are developed into expertise and eventually application of the expertise results into excllence / eminence.

Talent development process:

After identifying an individual student's talent or potential in a particular subject or domain, the focus in the initial stages should be to teach the student to fall in love with the particular subject or field (like music or art) and in the second stage the teaching should focus on developing a technique or a level of expertise and finally in the third stage the teaching should focus on mentoring to develop a personal niche / excellence.  This talent development process can be applied across all domains like sports, music, arts, dance and academics.

MyPal's Talent Development model is inspired by the monograph published by

Rena F. Subotnik, Paula Olszewski-Kubilius, and? Frank C. Worrell, (2011), Rethinking Giftedness and Gifted Education: A Proposed Direction Forward Based on Psychological Science, Psychological Science in Public Interest,  Vol 12(1) 3–54
